The Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Gusau, has organised a one-week capacity-building workshop for its clerical and registry staff as part of efforts to enhance efficiency and professionalism in the Centre’s administrative operations.

The training, titled “Workshop on Organisation of General Duties for Clerks and Registry Staff,” was held from 29th September to 3rd October, 2025. It was conducted by the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Gusau Area Office, with Supreme Human Resources Professionals serving as the consulting firm.

Speaking during the opening session, the Head of Clinical Services and Training, Dr. Umar Abdullahi, who represented the Medical Director, Dr. Bello A. Mohammed, said the training was part of the management’s commitment to equipping staff with up-to-date knowledge and skills necessary for efficient service delivery.

Dr. Abdullahi commended the Medical Director for his unwavering support for staff development initiatives, urging the participants to reciprocate the gesture by applying the lessons learned to improve their productivity. He also appreciated the consulting firm for its expertise and engaging delivery, wishing them greater success in their endeavours.

Some of the topics covered during the workshop included Work Attitude and Organisational Efficiency and Work Planning and Control—delivered by Dr. Mohammed Bello Abubakar—as well as Safety and Security of Official Documents in an Organisation, Organisation of General Duties for Clerks and Registry Personnel, Classification of Files, Mails and Indexing, and Receiving and Processing of Mails and Official Documents.

Participants described the training as insightful and impactful. One of them, Aminu Adamu, expressed gratitude to the management for the opportunity, noting that the workshop had improved their understanding of office management. “Anyone who attended this workshop must have gained one thing or the other that would reflect positively in their daily duties,” he said.

The workshop forms part of FMC Gusau’s ongoing commitment to building a competent and motivated workforce capable of delivering quality healthcare services through improved administrative support.
