The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Gusau, Associate Professor Dr. Bello A. Mohammed, has inaugurated an ad hoc Task Force Committee on Electricity Consumption Control as part of efforts to promote efficient energy use within the facility.

Speaking during the inauguration, Dr. Bello stated that the primary objective of establishing the committee was to ensure the proper and responsible use of electricity across the Centre. He emphasized the need to curb the indiscriminate use of high energy-consuming appliances such as pressing irons, deep freezers, water heaters, ovens, among others.

The Medical Director charged the committee to enforce healthy electricity consumption practices and diligently monitor compliance, including reporting cases of violations where necessary. He noted that prudent energy management is essential to sustaining the hospital’s operations and reducing unnecessary costs.

In his response, the Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Head of Clinical Services (Training and Research), Dr. Suleiman Usman, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the team. Head noted the importance of energy for quality healthcare delivery and therefore assured the management of the committee’s commitment to developing effective modalities that will entrench a culture of energy conservation among staff of the Centre.

The committee has Yahaya Bature serving as Secretary, while other members include the Acting Head of Administration, Barr. M. A. Sani; Barr. Mustapha Umar Jibril; Engr. Hamisu Abdullahi Rawaiyya; and WM A. A. Yandoto (Rtd).
