Chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of Federal Medical Centre Gusau, Barrister M A Sani has advocated on the importance of maintaining a corruption-free institution at a recent quarterly Hospital Presentation organised by the Hospital Presentation Committee of the Federal Medical Centre Gusau. 

Barrister Sani sensitized the Hospital Community on the offenses and penalties related to corruption, ensuring staff understand the severity of corrupt practices.

Sani pledged to maintain an open-door policy, guaranteeing confidentiality for those who report corrupt practices within the hospital. "To facilitate easy reporting, suggestion boxes in the hospital can be utilised, with plans to introduce additional reporting modalities in the near future", he further explained.

The ACTU chairman also distributed leaflets from Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) to raise awareness about the unit's activities and enlisted the cooperation of hospital staff in preventing corruption as this collaborative approach is crucial in promoting ethical practices and ensuring the integrity of the hospital.

The Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) was established by the ICPC to monitor and prevent corruption within all ministries, department and agencies of government including healthcare institutions

The mandate of ACTU is to prevent corruption and corrupt practices through different mediums including educating, creating awareness and campaigning, among others, against corruption.
