The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Gusau has introduced an online payment system to improve its services and reduce extortion by third parties.

According to the Head of Clinical Services, Dr. Umar Abdullahi (FMCP), the new system has been successful in achieving its goals.

Dr. Abdullahi made this statement in response to concerns raised by Honourable Kabiru Amadu Maipalace, who represents Gusau and Tsafe in the National Assembly.

Honourable Maipalace had complained to the FMC management about his constituents' concerns regarding the new online payment system at a function in the Centre recently.

Dr. Abdullahi explained that the online payment system is part of the presidential commitment to electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic health records (EHR).

This initiative is also part of the Nigeria Digital Health Initiative (NDHI), launched by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate.

The online payment system has not only reduced extortion but also increased the Centre's revenue.

Dr. Abdullahi assured Honourable Maipalace that the management is willing to review the system to ensure it is patient-friendly and efficient.

He also revealed that his office can now monitor patient treatment and care in real-time.

This level of transparency and accountability is a significant improvement in the hospital's services.

The online payment system has also reduced the risk of fraud and increased patient trust in the hospital.

Dr. Abdullahi emphasized that the management is committed to continuous improvement and open to feedback from patients and stakeholders.
